Enstatite is a common silicate mineral, which can be either colorless, gray, light green, yellow, or brown. It often has iron impurities, making it opaque and dark; pure enstatite is lighter and transparent, and much less common. That's why clarity and color are among the main factors that determine enstatite's value.

Enstatite's value chart (available to Gemval's registered users) will give you accurate information on the price of the gemstones you own, based on factors such as clarity, color, carat weight and cut. Enstatite's price is not very high, due to its abundance and typically muddy color, even in smaller pieces. It's rarely used for jewelry, and is more of an ornamental gemstone. Sometimes it can be seen as a part of mineral collections.

Its most common variety is called bronzite (due to its bronze color), and its biggest deposits are in Austria and India. Bastite, another variety, typically comes from Germany or Myanmar. Green enstatite pieces, considered rare, usually come from South Africa or from Myanmar.
